Through World-Class Heart Research
World-renowned physicians, researchers, and heart experts work tirelessly every day to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease for patients everywhere.
Cardiovascular Research Gives Hope & Saves Lives
Welcome to a community of grateful patients, caring friends and families, and dedicated healthcare professionals.
We’re on a mission to improve the cardiovascular health of individuals and communities around the globe. We’re glad you’re here. We need your help because this is not an easy task. Cardiovascular disease remains the #1 cause of death.
Yet, when we started this mission 40 years ago many cardiovascular patients were left feeling hopeless. Now, patients with the same diagnosis, are living strong. Thanks for joining us to ensure that research can continue to find innovative solutions to keep hearts beating.

Proud of a Strong Partnership
MHIF is an independent nonprofit that partners with 100+ world-class physicians from Minneapolis Heart Institute® to lead research that has a global impact on cardiovascular care for patients.
Because Minneapolis Heart Institute is part of Abbott Northwestern Hospital and United Hospital, we can study and offer cutting-edge treatment to a large number of patients.
The Importance of Education
Equal to our commitment to research is our dedication to share the learnings from research. It is the sharing of research that allows for local, national and international impact as we challenge and advance the standard of care for all patients.
MHIF provides more than 11,000 hours of education each year putting research into practice by presenting and publishing at scientific conferences. We also publish more than 200 papers each year in cardiovascular journals and offer public and professional events to share our learnings around heart health.
