I changed and adapted. We were able to have two very beautiful, healthy babies. Without my pacemaker, I wouldn’t be here today.

I had open heart surgery. I had the aortic valve replaced and that was damaged by the chemo.

I hadn’t had any symptoms –I knew I had some heart problems, but I wasn’t experiencing anything that led me to think I needed my heart valve replaced.

I receive care from great doctors and wonderful nurses and research staff too. They explained everything and made me comfortable. I’m doing better all the time. I’m just thankful, that’s all I can say.

It was amazing, because I had the procedure done on a Thursday and we were able to be at our grandson’s wedding that Saturday.

I just kept saying to these three doctors at the end of the bed that they didn’t understand … that we could not lose this little baby boy and this was way too early to deliver him.

I got scared after learning how occluded my coronary arteries were, because I was like a walking time bomb.
