The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation® (MHIF), in collaboration with Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute®, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions® (SCAI), and The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT), hosted the CT for PCI Summit 3.0 on October 9–10, 2025. This physician-led educational event focused on advancing the use of coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA)—a noninvasive imaging modality—to guide percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and ultimately improve patient outcomes.

Organized by MHIF’s Center for Coronary Artery Disease, the summit was led by course directors Drs. Yader SandovalEmmanouil Brilakis, and João Cavalcante. The event gathered top clinical thought leaders from throughout North America, including interventional cardiologists, cardiac imagers, radiologists, trainees, researchers, and industry experts eager to explore innovations in PCI planning.

Across a day and a half of dynamic sessions, attendees engaged in expert lectures, spirited debates, and collaborative discussions. The agenda also featured hands-on training sessions using advanced planning software for pre-procedural strategy development, and four interactive live cases broadcast directly from Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

CT-guided PCI leverages detailed coronary CT imaging to assess coronary artery disease, including plaque composition and physiology. This approach enhances procedural planning and supports more personalized, effective treatment strategies. MHIF continues to lead innovation in this space, serving as the highest U.S. enrolling site in the P4 randomized trial, which compared the outcomes of CT-guided PCI with those of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-guided PCI. At the summit, it was also announced that the CT-PLAN PCI trial, an investigator-initiated study (PI: Dr. Sandoval, MHIF-CCAD), that will randomize 200 patients to CT-guided PCI in comparison to routine PCI.
