In summer 2023, MHIF partnered with The Power of People Leadership Institute (POPLI) to pilot the first Cardiovascular Micro-credential for high school girls. The 5-week, experiential program aimed to demystify the careers in cardiology and health, teach the girls about social drivers of heart health and gain transferable skills required for a career in health sciences.

The Nolan Family Center for Cardiovascular Health at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation® (MHIF) aims to change the paradigm from cardiovascular disease to cardiovascular health through efforts in research and education. As part of the educational aim for the center, a one-year fellowship in cardiovascular prevention has been created to provide a robust experience to an individual interested in the field of cardiovascular prevention. 

The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health announced that Michael Miedema, MD, MPH, is the recipient of the prestigious 2023 Emerging Public Health Professional Award. The award recognizes early-career public health achievements and contributions of Harvard Chan School graduates who received their degree within the past 10 years.

Congratulations to Kristine Fortman, PhD, CEO, Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF), for being a 2023 Twin Cities’ Most Admired CEO by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal.

Under her leadership, MHIF drives lifesaving heart research and education that advances care for all patients. The MHIF team has achieved numerous accomplishments under Kristine’s guidance – critical work that impacts every aspect of the heart, both in and outside the clinic doors.
