Eleni Kladou, MD

International Scholar, Center for Coronary Artery Disease

Eleni Kladou, MD, joined the MHIF Center of Coronary Artery Disease as an International Scholar in April 2025 from Crete, Greece. In her role as an MHIF CCAD Scholar, Eleni will work on various CCAD IIS projects, including PROGRESS-Cath, PROGRESS Bifurcations, PROGRESS Complications, PROGRESS-CTO, among others.

Eleni graduated from the Medical School of the University of Crete in 2016. After medical school, Dr. Kladou completed rural medical service in the Renal Dialysis Unit at Rethymnon Hospital, Crete. She completed her post-graduate clinical training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete. Given her interest to pursue Interventional Cardiology, during her training in Greece, Dr. Kladou has performed over 1200 angiographies and 400 PCIs, with over 200 angiograms as first operator, and additionally received training to perform echocardiography, and placement of temporary pacemaker leads. She recently passed the Greek Cardiology Board Exams in January 2025.

In addition to her clinical work, Eleni has a track record of research and her interests primarily relate to CAD, both in the context of stable CAD and acute coronary syndromes. She has participated in several clinical trials, as well as presented her work at national cardiology congresses across Greece and published manuscripts both as first and contributing author. Eleni is also particularly interested in coronary microcirculation function, with a focus on physiological assessment – an area that forms the basis of her PhD work at the University Hospital of Heraklion.
