For one night in November, we hope you’ll join hands and hearts with us at Heart 360. It’s an annual concert benefiting the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) and its lifesaving heart research and education for patients around the world! The theme celebrates the 360-degree approach that is critical to advancing heart care – and the community support that keeps our mission moving forward.
Here are five simple reasons to join us at Heart 360:
1. Music is good for the heart
What we hear makes a huge difference in our sense of well-being. Here’s what we know about music:
- Music is a core function in our brain. Our bodies are entrained and sync to the music and rhythms we hear and feel – like when you notice your foot tapping to a song involuntarily.
- Humans respond physiologically to music.
- Music holds personal memories and social experiences. Music taps into our emotions.
Studies have found that not only can music reduce pain and anxiety, but it may also help lower blood pressure and heart rate, ease anxiety in heart attack survivors, and help patients recovering from heart surgery to feel less pain and anxiety.
Live music has an even more potent effect. Experience it for yourself, together with us, on the night of November 2!

2. Learn facts you never knew about heart health
Did you know in a 70-year lifetime, a human heart beats more than 2.5 billion times? Although interesting, there are more important facts you really should know about heart health. For example, cardiovascular disease remains the #1 cause of death, yet 80% of heart disease is preventable. There is much you can do to reduce your risk – keep your weight, cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose in a healthy range by eating well, being active, not smoking and attending to your physical and mental well-being.
Facts and resources like these are critically important. If you live in and around Minnesota, life-saving research and care are right in your backyard!
3. Be inspired by our patients and mission
The mission of MHIF is to improve the cardiovascular health of individuals and communities through innovative research and education. A lot of good can happen when you dedicate yourself to making meaningful changes for your health and finding the right care. Patient stories like Kevin’s, who survived four heart attacks and ended up needing a heart transplant, is just one inspiring example of how research can save lives. Listen to Kevin’s story to learn how research gave him a new heart:
4. Learn why research is important for innovative heart care
For over 40 years, MHIF has been one of the leading nonprofit cardiovascular and vascular research and education institutions in the country, with over 230 active research studies and publications ongoing each year. MHIF also provides more than 11,000 hours of education annually—putting research into practice by publishing and presenting at scientific conferences.
The work of our team has touched and improved countless patient lives in Minnesota and around the globe, but there is always more to be done to make our vision of creating a world without heart and vascular disease a reality!
5. Celebrate through the night with award-winning performer Brad Paisley

Paisley has sold over 11 million albums and has won three Grammy Awards, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, and two American Music Awards. With greatest hits like “Whiskey Lullaby”, “She's Everything”, and “Mud On the Tires” this won’t be a concert to miss!
