How did you hear about the MHIF internship and why did you want to participate?

I discovered this internship through a family member affiliated with the foundation, as well as through assisting on a research project at MHIF last summer. I was excited to learn that this program provides a fascinating opportunity to learn about cardiovascular medicine through research, shadowing, and a vast number of other opportunities.

What sparked your interest in the field of research, medicine and cardiology?

A career in medicine allows me to combine my passion for science and continued learning with the ability to make a tangible impact in the lives of others. From early on in my studies and shadowing experiences, cardiology was always the aspect of medicine that stood out to me most, and I also realize how important it is as cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.

What is your desired career in medicine?

I am still exploring options within the medical field, but am currently most interested in working in Cardiology or Emergency Medicine.

What are you most looking forward to this summer?

I am most looking forward to building relationships with mentors as well as fellow interns, as this collaboration with like-minded individuals is an exciting aspect of the program. I am also looking forward to the experience in conducting research alongside professionals in the field.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I hope to gain insight into cardiovascular medicine as well as develop important clinical research skills. Assisting in clinical research will allow me to contribute to a crucial aspect in improving patient care.

What are your plans after the summer?

Following this summer, I will return to Villanova for my senior year of college.

What is a fun fact about you?

I love being outdoors, whether that is hiking, skiing, or spending time on the lake!
