Job Posting: Senior Manager, Professional and Community Education

The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation® (MHIF) is seeking a Senior Manager, Professional and Community Education to help develop, expand, and implement new and existing educational initiatives. The Senior Manager, Professional and Community Education provides leadership and oversight for the strategic planning and execution of community and professional education initiatives for MHIF. This role reports to the Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Education, and is integrated with a team that collaborates on events and programs to engage stakeholders in the MHIF brand as the organization fulfills its mission of leading world-class cardiovascular research and education.

The Senior Manager works closely with the Vice President to develop an annual strategic plan for MHIF education activities. This role is accountable for ensuring educational programs and curriculum align with the MHIF mission, elevating efforts to share the specialized and deep expertise of MHIF research physicians, as well as educating others about learnings from innovative research that advances care for patients around the world. The Senior Manager collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team across the organization, including renowned researchers and physicians. The role also manages faculty and industry relationships and other external partners. In addition to educational events, this position is responsible for the successful coordination and continuous improvement of the Clinical Research Internship Program, Grand Rounds and a variety of professional and community education events.

 

Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Oversight

  • Provide vision and direction for the education department in collaboration with VP, aligning education initiatives with MHIF’s strategic goals and advancing the organization’s reputation as a leader in cardiovascular education.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of public and professional education programs, including Grand Rounds, the Clinical Research Internship program, and a cadence of professional and community events in partnership with colleagues that lead key areas of research at MHIF.
  • Oversee department operations, including RFP processes, concept development, event management, and post-program evaluation, ensuring accountability for timelines, budgets, and outcomes.
  • Drive innovation in educational delivery, leveraging technology and adult learning best practices to expand reach and impact.


Program Management & Execution

  • Lead the dissemination of MHIF research outcomes through educational programming and strategic communications.
  • Cultivate and support faculty and industry partner relationships to enhance program quality, secure funding, and expand educational opportunities.
  • Ensure appropriate educational activities comply with ACCME and other relevant accreditation standards, serving as the primary content and compliance expert for CME activities.
  • Oversee the capabilities of the MHIF Learning Center (as a learning, education and technology space), and other education resources ensuring operational excellence and a high-quality experience.


Clinical Research Internship Program and Grand Rounds Leadership

  • Direct all educational aspects of the Clinical Research Internship program, including onboarding, curriculum development, procedure observations, industry field trips, and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with HR and physician mentors to recruit, select, and support interns, ensuring achievement of educational objectives and a positive learning environment.
  • Lead a committee of research and physician partners to develop a schedule of leading speakers for MHIF Grand Rounds scheduled 7-8AM on Mondays from September through May (off for the summer months). Work with committee to align around key topics and coordinate the speakers to fulfill the calendar.


Stakeholder Engagement, Relationship Management and Team Leadership

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, industry sponsors, accrediting bodies, and community organizations.
  • Initiate and manage efforts to build strong relationships with key partners across the organization, including colleagues and physicians involved in key areas of research.
  • Lead internal teams and collaborate with a variety of internal and external partners to drive the annual strategic plan for MHIF education.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of education partners, fostering a collaborative, supportive, and growth-oriented culture.
  • Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development to ensure team success and retention.
     

Financial & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage budgets for education programs and events, ensuring fiscal responsibility and stewardship of resources.
  • Lead and support grant writing and sponsorship efforts to secure funding for educational initiatives.


Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance

  • Monitor and analyze program metrics, learner feedback, and industry trends to drive continuous improvement in educational offerings.
  • Stay abreast of evolving adult learning methodologies, technology platforms, and regulatory requirements to ensure MHIF remains at the forefront of medical education.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum 7 years’ progressive experience in medical education program management, including experience in mid-level, leadership capacity
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, conference planning, and professional and community education programs or initiatives
  • Advanced proficiency in educational technology, including webcasts, learning management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead teams in a dynamic environment
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing program budgets
  • Experience in grant writing and securing program funding


Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or advanced certification relevant to professional and community education
  • Experience in non-profit, medical education, or healthcare organizations, including curriculum and adult learning
  • Successful track record in team leadership and strategic program growth
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce
  • Confidence in leveraging technology for educational innovation

 

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings for Grand Rounds (6:15 AM, Mondays, September–May)
  • Occasional local travel required for conferences and events

 

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this role takes into consideration a variety of factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are determined on the facts and circumstances of each case. The current range is $85,000 to $110,000 DOQ.

In addition to salary, MHIF also offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees working 20 hours per week or more including medical, dental, life, and short- and long-term disability insurance, employer contributions toward a health savings account (if applicable), 401(k) with employer match and contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, and 10 paid holidays annually.
