Job Posting: Women's Health Equity Fellow
The Women’s Equity Fellow plays a key role in supporting the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation’s goal of improving cardiovascular health for all. In this versatile role, the Women’s Health Equity Fellow will have the opportunity to address health disparities based on race, ethnicity and gender. This role aims to accelerate cardiovascular outcomes for women—and particularly women of color—through research, community partnerships and education.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build on groundwork in pregnancy related research, including dissemination of best practices in terms of follow-up for pregnancy related conditions, including gestational diabetes, hypertension and preeclampsia. Actively participates in ongoing women’s clinical research initiatives.
- Actively participates in the research process, including protocol development, patient recruitment strategies, enrollment/consent and follow-up visits.
- Implement programs, projects, grants, strategies and adheres to research protocols.
- Develop and manage external and internal key strategic relationships to support population health, research projects, grants, and/or strategy implementation.
- Assist in the development of health equity initiatives, educational resources, research studies, screening events, projects and services.
- Assist in writing grant proposals to fund community facing initiatives.
- Present to community and professional audiences as needed.
Relationships:
This position reports to the Program Director, Women’s & Cardiovascular Health Science Centers, with guidance from key physician stakeholders.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Desired Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field such as public health, public policy or related scientific field.
- Master’s degree or MD preferred.
- Previous experience in community or population health, and knowledge of programmatic approaches and models in health assessment, interventions and research dissemination.
- Experience in data collection methods with strong attention to detail, and proven ability to effectively manage large amounts of data and communications in an organized, timely and accurate manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work with others as a team and in support of a positive work culture.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and changing priorities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- The ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently to manage multiple concurrent activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of social determinants of health and impact on chronic disease prevention and management.
- Proven skills in collaboration, community dialogue and engagement.
- Demonstrated multi-cultural competence.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work with others as a team and in support of a positive work culture.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB
- Work at a computer sometimes for long periods of time
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs., occasionally
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work in a cubicle in a typical office setting for projects and in community for program implementation.
