World Heart Day is the world’s biggest awareness-raising platform for cardiovascular disease, and MHIF shared in the fun! Check out the promises our staff made to be ‘heart heroes’ and how they will care for their hearts and the hearts of others. Created by the World Heart Federation, World Heart Day informs people around the globe that CVD, including heart disease and stroke, is the world’s leading cause of death claiming 17.9 million lives each year, and highlights the actions that individuals can take to prevent and control CVD.

MHIF Researchers Help Save Lives with “Heart in a Box” Clinical Trial

MHIF is excited to be at the forefront of new clinical research that is working to find viable solutions to the problem. Since August, MHIF’s heart failure researchers, in partnership with the ANW Hospital, have completed three successful heart transplants with use of the investigational TransMedics Organ Care System (OCS™). The OCS™ Heart is a revolutionary system that preserves donor hearts, keeping them beating instead of simply storing them on ice in a cooler during transport as has been the traditional approach.

Traverse Publishes First-in-Human Porcine ECM Study Results

MHIF is proud to have been the leading enroller and clinical site in the first-in-human, FDA-approved Phase 1 clinical trial of an injectable hydrogel that was evaluated for safety and feasibility in repairing damage and restoring cardiac function in heart failure patients who previously suffered a heart attack, sponsored by Ventrix, Inc (San Diego, CA).
