Webinar #1: Mental Health and SCAD

Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD), is an increasingly recognized condition that can cause heart attacks when a spontaneous tear forms in an artery that is otherwise healthy, and the causes are uncertain. Nearly 90 percent of SCAD patients are women and it is afflicting a growing number of women in their 40s and 50s. This first webinar is dedicated to mental health and SCAD—specifically challenges that are unique to SCAD patients including anxiety, PTSD, and depression after experiencing SCAD.

SCAD survivors and advocates, Kristen Bowlds and Kelley Hoolihan, share a patient perspective. Dr. Courtney Jordan Baechler, cardiologist and MHIF medical director of Emerging Science Centers, answers questions specific to SCAD and mental health during this interactive webinar.
