Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation Cardiac Researcher Dr. Alex Campbell, talked with KARE 11 News about a threat to women that’s bigger than cancer: Heart disease. The recent death of Carrie Fisher has put a spotlight on this killer. More than 1 in 3 women — 43 million — are living with cardiovascular disease, many without knowing it.
“The symptoms are different in women.” Dr. Campbell noted. He went on to say that doctors are now able to “individualize the risk” of heart disease and recommend preventative measures accordingly.
