Welcome to volume 1, issue 1 of the Journal of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. We are exceptionally proud of this inaugural edition. The publication of the journal represents another remarkable milestone in the evolution of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. The journal represents the essence of our mission: the performance of life-enhancing cardiovascular research and dissemination of this knowledge to physicians and allied health care professionals throughout the world.
The idea for the journal was conceived by Dr. Timothy Sullivan, chairman of vascular and endovascular surgery at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and respected editor-in-chief of Annals of Vascular Surgery. Dr. Sullivan proudly serves as the journal’s editor-in-chief and has assembled a diverse and talented editorial board with the purpose of providing novel and meaningful content to readers. We can personally attest to the many long hours this team has devoted to the production of a flawless first edition.
To borrow from William Butler Yeats “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” We trust this content will kindle a quest for new ideas and will provide meaningful solutions to the problems you face in the care of your patients. We value the spirit of collaboration as we work together to achieve a longer and better life for our patients with heart and vascular disease.
