Job Posting: Interventional Cardiology Clinical Research Fellow, Complex Coronary Artery Disease Science Center

An established cardiology research team (principal investigator – PI: Emmanouil Brilakis, MD, PhD) invites applications for a full-time research fellow for a period of at least two years. Our research team is based at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. The team is conducting several clinical studies, including the PROGRESS-CTO registry, the ASAP-SVG Trial and the SHINE-CTO Trial. We are seeking a highly motivated researcher who is interested in studying complex coronary disease and contributing to progress in the field.

The Research Fellow will be responsible for conducting clinical research studies using good clinical practice guidelines under the supervision of the PI.  The Research Fellow will build significant expertise in designing and executing clinical studies, both prospective and retrospective, single-center and multi-center. Moreover, he/she will acquire significant experience in medical writing and the publication process. Research fellows will also gain experience in preparing and submitting abstracts and challenging cases to scientific congresses, and in presenting their work in oral and/ or poster formats. Previous and current research fellows in the program have been very successful in publishing and securing clinical residency/fellowship training positions.  This research position has no patient care responsibilities.

Duration:  2 years full-time (can be extended but appointment cannot be shorter due to the significant time required for initial training and to allow time to see projects through to conference presentation and publication.)

Qualifications: Recent medical degree and track record of excellence. Proficiency in English (verbal and written). Internal medicine/ cardiology training. Computer skills (MS Office- word, excel, powerpoint), REDCap/ databases, and statistical skills are valued assets as candidate will use/ develop these skills on the job extensively.  If candidate intends to subsequently apply for US clinical residency/fellowship training, completion of USMLE Step 1 and 2 CK prior to start of research fellowship is strongly recommended.

Salary: Research fellow will receive full-time salary and benefits, some relocation assistance to help identify housing and assistance in acquiring a J-1 visa.  The fellow will need to obtain a medical insurance plan appropriate for J-1 visa holders.
