Job Posting: Clinical Research Coordinator and Registered Nurse
Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $80,000.00 Annually

The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) is seeking an experienced Research Nurse or experienced Clinical Research Coordinator to join its outstanding research team in the cardiovascular research space. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with patients while supporting the research endeavors of physicians from Allina Health’s Minneapolis Heart Institute. These experienced physician-researchers are dedicated to discovering and advancing breakthrough treatments to improve heart care for all. The ideal candidate will either be a licensed nurse or possess a strong background in clinical care. Experience in the cardiovascular space and clinical research is a plus! This individual will primarily work from the MHIF Minneapolis campus, focusing on research studies in heart failure and electrophysiology. The individual may occasionally support research from the MHIF St. Paul campus and Eden Prairie & Edina clinics.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as the primary nurse or clinical coordinator for a portfolio of clinical research studies that may involve industry sponsored Phase I, II, III and IV clinical trials, drug, biologic, device, government-funded clinical research, and investigator-initiated clinical research.
- Ensures compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations and Good Clinical Practice guidelines to ensure smooth, accurate progress of studies from the planning and approval stages through study completion and post-study closure.
- Works with the physician investigators to manage the day-to-day activities of the study including problem solving, internal and external communication and protocol management.
- Responsible for screening, recruitment and retention of study participants.
- Responsible for developing source documents and accuracy of protocol data abstracted from medical records and other sources.
- Identify, document, and assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) mandated reporting.
- Develop and ensure compliant processes with study protocols.
- Provide expertise in the planning, development and budgeting for clinical trials.
- Provide guidance and support of team members and newer research staff as a point person and reliable source of information.
- Supports leadership in process improvement projects, standard operations policies and new initiatives as a subject matter expert in clinical research.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5+ years of clinical experience (cardiovascular experience in a clinical setting preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a history of working collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail, demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and be results oriented
- Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and knowledge of Excel functionality
- Experience working in an electronic medical record systems e.g., Epic
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cardiovascular clinical experience
- Minimum of 2+ years clinical research experience (cardiovascular preferred)
- Active licensure via Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree programs in a healthcare-related field; LPN or RN preferred but not required
- Certified Clinical Research Coordinator/Professional (CCRC or CCRP) certification strongly preferred
Total Rewards:
The compensation range for this role takes into consideration a variety of factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are determined on the facts and circumstances of each case. The current range is $70,000- $80,000.
