Until On the Pulse: A Series of Physician Speakers Begins

Event Details:

Join us for our series of free, virtual presentations from physician leaders in research and care at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation® (MHIF) and the Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute® (AHMHI) who will address the latest in cardiovascular treatment and advancements.

Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is a sudden, unexpected death caused by a change in heart rhythm (sudden cardiac arrest or SCA). It is the largest cause of natural death in the U.S. and is responsible for half of all heart disease related deaths. According to the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai, a recent study shows that heart attack death rates took a sharp turn and increased for all age groups during the pandemic.

Join us to learn more about:

  • The definition SCD/SCA and identify the prevalence of this condition
  • Discuss the epidemiology and different causes of sudden cardiac death
  • Identify the link between COVID-19 and the rise in SCD/SCA
  • Discuss SCD/SCA in athletes, including recent news stories
  • Explore the diagnosis, treatment options and recovery of SCA
  • Discuss emerging research surrounding SCD/SCA
