Operating with the highest integrity
For more than 37 years, the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation® (MHIF) has been working to change the trajectory of cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment. Through the contributions and support of donors around the world, lives are being improved. MHIF takes pride in using contributions effectively to do our work and operating with the utmost integrity.
Our annual report details our activities in the previous calendar year. It highlights our clinical research initiatives, scientific breakthroughs and our educational and community outreach programs. It also provides a complete financial overview so you can see how charitable contributions are being used.
Audited Financial Statements
MHIF takes pride in ensuring strong financial practices guide its work. Working with outside auditors, we meet and exceed standards. Each year, audited financial reports are prepared and shared to document MHIF’s financial health.
IRS Form 990
In compliance with the Internal Revenue Service, MHIF completes and submits a Form 990 which provides a recap of its annual program service accomplishments and complete picture of its sources and uses of funds.
Sept. 28, 2020 – Blackbaud data breach
While the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation has not utilized Blackbaud data management services for 8 years, prior to that time our donor data was maintained in the Allina Health donor data records within the Blackbaud platform.
As an important stakeholder and supporter of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, we are providing you details of a cybersecurity incident recently experienced by Blackbaud, Inc., a vendor of Allina Health Office of Philanthropy and their family of 13 philanthropic foundations.
Blackbaud manages data management software and cloud computing software used by many nonprofit organizations. The security breach Blackbaud servers experienced compromised some donor data, including donors to the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation from over 8 years ago.
Blackbaud has assured Allina Health that credit card information and banking information were not accessed by the cybercriminal and remain encrypted.
Although there is no action required from you at this time, and no credit card or banking information was exposed in the Blackbaud data breach, we want to provide you with contact information if you wish to speak to someone about this issue.
Again, we regret the inconvenience this breach may have caused you and please know we are committed to protecting your personal information and will keep you informed of any further changes in this situation.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 612-863-3844.
We know that every gift made to our foundation is a choice. Thank you for your support of our work to improve the cardiovascular health of individuals and communities through innovative research and education. Our mission is only possible because of your generosity, and we are dedicated to keeping your trust.
Any Gift, Big or Small, has a Significant Impact on People’s Lives
