Job Posting: Digital Marketing Manager

In this critical role, you will be responsible for creating and executing MHIF’s digital marketing strategy by executing tactics, monitoring progress, and measuring success. This position plays a pivotal role in building and engaging an online community to support the goals of cross-disciplinary teams including development, events, professional education and research. By leveraging expertise in the digital landscape, the Manager and the Digital Marketing Coordinator implement integrated digital marketing campaigns across the website, social media, email, online advertising, and enable other digital opportunities in alignment with organizational priorities. The Manager has oversight of the website vision, content and the web vendor, ensuring the desired result for MHIF.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Vision, strategy and planning
  • Contribute significantly to help develop the overall MHIF marketing strategy in collaboration with the VP of Advancement, Marketing and Communications and the Marketing Consultant
  • Develop and lead community-centric digital strategy that aligns with MHIF’s larger marketing strategy and goals
  • Provide segmentation and personalization communications for key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with development team to execute online fundraising strategy
  • Act as the subject matter expert for digital marketing and stay current with industry best practices
  • Develop digital marketing roadmap and maximize online capabilities to support multiple department goals
  • Assist with creative concepting and develop the creative testing matrix (a/b testing, CTAs, landing pages and conversion funnels)
  • Lead direction and communication with external digital partners
  1. Execution
  • Manage supporting staff and lead execution across all digital channels (including email, online advertising, social media, online fundraising tools, and website).
  • Support education of internal and external key stakeholders related to marketing goals
  • Partner with content experts to ensure content educates and engages target audiences through the delivery of creative and tailored brand building messages
  • Identify and address conflicts within cross-functional projects and teams
  • Participate in and contribute to continuous quality and process improvement and other organizational and leadership initiatives
  1. Metrics, Results Analysis and Impact
  • Establish and monitor marketing and online fundraising KPIs to track measurement and progress
  • Partner closely with development and data teams to pull audience lists from Salesforce and improve impact measurement
  1. Communication, Education and Training
  • Articulate the vision and key strategies of the digital marketing channels and their impact on the organization and business.
  • Provide education and training to staff involved with digital marketing execution
  • Work collaboratively with all MHIF employees as part of a positive, supportive culture



This position reports to the VP of Advancement, Marketing, and Communications. The incumbent interacts regularly with members of the executive leadership, research, education, development, and finance departments, as well as vendors, board members, staff and Minneapolis Heart Institute colleagues as needed to assist in moving the overall marketing communications strategy forward. The Manager directly supervises the Digital Marketing Coordinator.



  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field.
  • 6+ years’ experience working in digital marketing with experience leading digital marketing campaigns from end-to-end
  • Background in developing or aligning with marketing and marketing strategy
  • Proven track record of executing multifaceted digital campaigns in fundraising, brand awareness and community building
  • Experience connecting online influencers, building an audience, and communicating in ways to grow a community from a brand perspective
  • Some experience managing others or providing work direction and coaching feedback. Has a leadership orientation
  • Demonstrated Project and Program Management techniques, skills and experience
  • Experience with contact relationship management database (CRM), preferably Salesforce.
  • Experience with Pardot or similar marketing automation solution and creating robust email automation series
  • Experience with SEO, online advertising, email marketing, website management platforms such as Drupal or WordPress, Google Analytics, Google Ad grants, social media posting service(s) and social platforms
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Background in leveraging and maximizing data to reach organizational goals
  • Strong creative concepting and content development skills
  • Driven to meet and exceed outcomes; self-motivated and independent
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills
  • Experience successfully working with internal and external partners
  • Well-developed problem solving and critical thinking and analysis skills. Detail oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects on tight timelines, while meeting customer expectations
