Dr. Craig Strauss, a research cardiologist at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation and physician with Minneapolis Heart Institute® (MHI), has been awarded the 2020 Dr. Bruce E. Linderholm award from Abbott Northwestern Hospital (ANW). The annual award is presented annually to a medical staff member, 45 years of age or younger, who has demonstrated leadership skills within health care and the community at large and is recognized as a potential leader on ANW’s medical staff.
Since joining ANW in 2007, Dr. Strauss’ leadership activities have focused on how data and analytics can improve cardiovascular quality and outcomes. His roles have included:
- Vice president for quality, innovation and advanced analytics at Minneapolis Heart Institute® (MHI)
- Founder and medical director of the MHI® Center for Healthcare Delivery Innovation
- Medical director of strategy, innovation and outcomes for Allina health’s cardiovascular service line
Dr. Strauss received his medical degree as well as a Masters of Public Health degree from Dartmouth, followed by an internal medicine residency at ANW, including serving as chief resident. He then completed a cardiology fellowship at the University of Minnesota, focusing on echocardiography, cardiac CT and nuclear imaging.
