Illuminating Hope at the 2019 Heartbeat Gala

An uplifting evening at the 2019 Heartbeat Gala

Our annual Heartbeat Gala on Nov. 23, 2019 was a truly remarkable event! More than 650 guests enjoyed an inspiring evening filled with touching testimonials of patients impacted by MHIF research, energetic commentary from emceé Cathy Wurzer, gala co-chairs Dr. Elizabeth Grey and Dr. Retu Saxena and MHIF CEO Kris Fortman, delicious food, silent and live auctions plus many other fun activities.

A key highlight of the evening was the announcement of an extremely generous and historic $5 million gift from Penny and Lee Anderson, creating the Penny Anderson Women’s Cardiovascular Center. Lee and Penny have ties to MHIF dating back to its origins in 1982 and both hold women’s cardiovascular health very close to their hearts. We’re honored to also have had Penny serve as a former member of MHIF’s Board of Directors.

With women’s heart health research lagging 35 years behind that of men’s, the Anderson’s transformational gift will rapidly advance life-changing research to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and vascular disease in women. Along with the generosity of many wonderful supporters who helped us raise more than $650,000 at the gala, MHIF is poised to help improve, save and extend the lives of women around the world.

Thanks to all who attended, graciously donated and helped illuminate and inspire hope! Working together, we can achieve our mission of creating a world without heart and vascular disease.
